Protesters demand an end to the climate-wrecking, undemocratic and anti-social projects being negotiated behind closed doors. On March, 27th, more than four hundred people in Vienna protested against the European Gas Conference (EGC), blocking the entrance of the Mariott Hotel Vienna, the conference venue. The European Gas Conference is a three-day ‘high-level’ event where representatives of fossil fuel companies such as Shell, Total and BP meet with financial investors and political representatives to take decisions on major energy projects. Despite massive police presence trying to keep the conference behind closed doors, hundreds of people blocked the streets around the conference...

Taking action and making connections for a Fossil Free Europe!
A small town outside of Zagreb, Samobor in Croatia, was the destination for over 20 European climate & gas campaigners from the Friends of the Earth Europe network. Our Climate Campaign Coordinator Suzanne Maas was there to join the annual Fossil Free Network Gathering, to discuss with colleagues from across Europe how to get our continent off fossil fuels, and particularly, how to bring about a phase-out of gas. The threat of gas has been increasing this past year. With Europe in a frenzy to move away from Russian gas, there has been a lot of money flowing towards infrastructure...

YEAH! Youth Hub: a platform for youth engagement
In Malta, as in other European countries, we see young people engage and participate in democratic processes to shape the future they want, but many still feel left behind. Young people feel alienated and do not feel supported by their peers. This alienation further deepens with limited opportunities for active citizenship of underrepresented youth. An ongoing project by Friends of the Earth Malta (FoEM) and Generation (Change?) proposed the creation of a Youth Hub, a non–formal educational place, which can be viewed as a microcosm of society. Every Thursday between 17:00 – 20:00 youths of different backgrounds and abilities, meet...
