Nurdle hunting on Comino at Santa Marija Bay

These small, lentil-sized beads, typically about 2–5 millimetres in diameter and often round or oval in shape, are the raw material for most plastic products, from bottles to packaging, and they’re causing a quiet but serious environmental crisis. Yelkouan shearwaters – Kemmuna’s best kept secret
The jagged cliffs of the island are home to the Yelkouan shearwaters (Puffinus Yelkouan, MT: Garnija). This species of seabird is a regional endemic, breeding only in the Mediterranean basin. Almost 10% of the total population nests on the Maltese Islands, of which around 150-220 pairs are estimated on Kemmuna.
