Twelve Environmental and Health Organisations ask the government to take the lead in promoting sustainable eating

Friends of the Earth Malta, Veggy Malta, Action for Breast Cancer Foundation, Physicians Association for Nutrition International, BirdLife Malta, Moviment Graffitti, Vuci Kulletiva, Din l-art Helwa, Sigar, Earth Systems Association, Kunsill Studenti Universitarji, and ACT publish the report “Malta Vision 2050: A Plant-Based Food Strategy”, with 12 proposals to enhance sustainable eating.

Transforming what we eat is one of the fastest and most effective ways to reduce emissions and protect ecosystems. Animal agriculture is responsible for nearly 60% of food-related greenhouse gas emissions globally, occupying 80% of farmland while providing less than 20% of calories. Plant-based foods, in contrast, deliver most of the world’s nutrition with a fraction of the environmental cost.

ĊineAmbjent: Call for Volunteers

A powerful movement has taken root in Malta to end the use of marine animals in the entertainment industry. At its heart stands a clear demand; an immediate end to marine mammal captivity and urging authorities to take action over conditions at Mediterraneo Marine Park. Where dolphins, sea lions and other species have been confined for years in cramped concrete tanks and forced into performances for public amusement. Guided by the values of animal liberation, ecological justice and a future free from exploitation, the campaign calls for an end to captivity-based entertainment on the island.

Another week of road violence: time to end Malta’s car-centric epidemic

In recent days, Malta has once again witnessed a disturbing wave of serious traffic accidents. Nowadays, these are no longer isolated events, but rather part of a recurring and deadly pattern rooted in a transport system that consistently prioritises private vehicles over the safety, health and wellbeing of the people. These are not mere “accidents”  but  avoidable tragedies, enabled by policy decisions and planning failures that place cars over human life.

Pathetic Villa Rosa Local Plan Review fails to hide shameless Government attempt to line the pockets of Tal-Franċiż

9 organisations strongly condemn the proposed Villa Rosa Local Plan review which is nothing more than a blueprint for large-scale overdevelopment disguised as a planning exercise. Beneath the usual buzzwords, the plan serves a single purpose: to facilitate massive increases in building heights and volumes for the private gain of developer Tal-Franċiż.
