In Embrace we want to offer opportunities for young people to reconnect with nature. We want to create a caring community, based in nature to increase creativity, reduce depression and anxiety, and improve the ovehealth of both people and the planet. In nature there are no expectations to fulfil, and as long as we respect the different beings living there, we will be welcomed and included. Here we can be ourselves, individually and together with other young people.
Our Projects
Welcome to our projects hub, which features a range of projects which are currently taking place in communities across Malta. Since 1985, FoE Malta has been focusing on lobbying for changes to local policy – most of this is achieved though delivering high quality projects that have a long lasting and positive impact on both society and the environment.
Click on the titles to discover more about each project, including its location, stage of delivery and opportunities to get involved or feedback on specific projects.
Note: This page is still under development and currently only highlights a small percentage of the projects we have implemented.
Current Projects
HerpTrust
HerpTrust project aims to contribute to improving biodiversity’s resilience, by nursing and promoting positive Human-Herpetofauna Interactions (HHI) through herpetofauna-related adult education to citizens and VET. Professionals who live and work in nature (e.g. farmers, shepherds, hunters), and are thus in contact with herpetofauna species regularly, are the real countryside managers and the people who can make a difference, safeguarding herps and the rest of biodiversity.
Youth Environment & Activism Programme
Welcome to our dynamic project dedicated to empowering youth as change makers and activists within their communities. We provide a platform for young individuals to develop skills in environmental, climate, and social justice, all while having a blast, forging connections, enjoying games, music, and moments of relaxation.
YouthIES
The YouthIES project supports youth social entrepreneurship by integrating digital experiences, ideation, creativity, social and community responsibility, inspiring the uptake of initiatives. Its activities aim to enhance youth capacities for community-based environmental interventions using digital tools and effective systems-thinking approaches.
CALM-EY project
The project will develop knowledge for specialists working with youth on climate worry and its mental and social effects, providing the necessary tools to recognise climate-related anxiety and distress in young people and help them manage and alleviate it.
Let’s Bike About: Pedal Towards a Greener Malta
The Bike About project seeks to increase the use of bicycles as part of our NGO work, to promote cycling and bicycle use amongst our volunteers, youth group and community, and to teach people the skill of cycling and bicycle repair.
Get Active – Bound Around!
The aim of “Get Active – Bound Around” is to develop blended learning activities and online tools and make them available to students and teachers, accompanied by interactive workshops.
