Social PEAS – Short online course about Social Permaculture

Social PEAS – Short online course about Social Permaculture

Learn how to use social permaculture principles and practices to create resilient and sustainable communities with the Social PEAS online learning platform.

Social Permaculture?

What is Social Permaculture, and how can it be used as a tool in mental health and care work? The Social PEAS (Social Permaculture: Empowering an Active Society) project was created to develop permaculture training for professionals working with vulnerable adults, such as people suffering from mental health issues, people with physical and intellectual disabilities and (former) drug or alcohol users.

Online course

Learn more about social permaculture concepts, as well as practical tools to implement social permaculture in your work or studies, with the Social PEAS online course. The course takes you through six modules available on an online learning platform, from 1: Introduction to Social Permaculture: Ethics and Principles, 2: Ecosystems & Communities, 3: Life Cycles, 4: Requirements for Growth, 5: Permaculture Design, to 6: Harvesting, Sharing & Learning. The course is designed for professionals and students working with vulnerable adults, such as people suffering from mental health issues, people with physical and intellectual disabilities and former drug or alcohol users.

In the six-week online course, trainers from Friends of the Earth Malta will guide you through the modules, sending weekly reminders about the course material and providing an online check-in session at the end of each week, to address open questions and discussion points. You will go through the material on the online learning platform, with reading material, short videos and quizzes, at your own pace. At the end of the online course, you will have the opportunity to take an online certification exam and get certified in Social Permaculture (certification by ICEP Competence Institute).

Participants from Malta will also have the opportunity to attend the in-person final conference of the Social PEAS project on Social Permaculture, which will take place on Thursday 16 May (time and place TBC).
