At Friends of the Earth Malta, we have always been committed to our core beliefs and values. We are committed and dedicated to ecological and cultural diversity, peoples’ sovereignty, human and peoples’ rights, equity, environmental, social, economic, gender, and racial justice, the intrinsic value of nature, and making sure people have a say in decisions that affect them. Our main goal is to make the world better and more sustainable, and these values guide us in that direction.
Today, we are excited to introduce a significant change in our visual identity that reflects not only our growth as an organization but also our renewed commitment to these core beliefs. We believe that this rebranding is a crucial step towards better communicating our message, values, and mission to the world.
Why the Rebranding?
The decision to rebrand did not come lightly. It was born from a desire to better represent who we are and what we stand for.
Here are some key reasons for our rebranding:
1. Reflecting Growth and Evolution
Our organization has experienced remarkable growth over the years, expanding our reach, influence, and impact. Our old visual identity, designed in 2019, no longer adequately represented the scope of our work and our ever-increasing engagement in environmental and social issues.
2. A Fresh Perspective
In 2019, we introduced a softer and friendlier version of our classic logo from the “FOE Network.” While it was a step in the right direction, it was time for a more comprehensive transformation. We believe in the power of visuals to inspire, educate, and mobilize change. Our new look aims to do just that – inspire positive change with bright and vibrant colors.
3. Partnering with 2point3
To bring our vision to life, we collaborated with 2point3, a small but dynamic design company known for their commitment to environmental and social causes. They understood our mission and values, making them the perfect partner for this project. Their portfolio includes several projects We worked closely with their team through multiple meetings to develop our new fonts and colors, ensuring that every element resonates with our identity.
What’s Changed?
The heart of our visual identity lies in our core logo, which is composed of a circular symbol and a distinctive typography. The circular symbol represents the interconnectedness of nature and people, while the typography emphasizes our name and message.
New Color Palette
Our primary palette now features shades of blue, green, and off-white. These colors are not only visually appealing but also deeply symbolic. Blue represents the sky and oceans, green is the color of nature, and off-white reflects purity and harmony. These colors will be the go-to choice for our official documents and communications.
In addition to the primary palette, we have introduced a secondary palette consisting of five supplementary colors. These can be combined with our primary colors to create vibrant artworks and information graphics, making our message even more engaging and impactful.
Vibrancy and Nature
Our new colours are chosen to be vibrant and effective in communicating our message. They resonate with the energy of positive change while remaining grounded in nature. These colours will be the visual embodiment of our commitment to environmental and social issues.
Moving Forward
As we unveil our new visual identity, we do so with a sense of excitement and renewed purpose. We believe that this fresh look will help us reach more people, engage more effectively, and drive change more powerfully. Our core beliefs remain unwavering, but our visual representation now matches the dynamism and vitality of our mission.
Change is essential for growth, and at Friends of the Earth Malta, we’re committed to not just embracing change but leading it. Our rebranding reflects our evolution, our passion, and our determination to make the world a better place for all. We look forward to sharing our journey with you and working together for a more sustainable and just future.
Thank you for your continued support, and here’s to a brighter and more colourful future!
