Urban Cycling Skills Training & Group Ride

During EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2024, we are organising an Urban Cycling Skills training and group ride, in collaboration with Critical Mass Malta! Do you know how to cycle, but need some support to feel confident to ride on Malta’s busy roads and learn about the do’s and don’ts of urban commuting? In our Urban Cycling Skills training, experienced commuter cyclists Mike Rosner and Dr Suzanne Maas will teach you about the traffic rules for bicycle and micromobility users in Malta, including tips on how to position yourself on the road, how to tackle busy roundabouts, and how to ensure you are visible while riding in traffic. After the training session, we will go out for a group ride with our friends of Critical Mass Malta (who organise group rides on every last Friday of the month!), to experience the power of ‘safety in numbers’ and build confidence on the road. We will cycle as a group, with experienced cyclists at the front and rear.
Join us on Friday 20 September for the Urban Cycling Skills training and group ride! The training will start at 17:30 at the Friends of the Earth Malta Green Resource Centre in Floriana, and will conclude with a group ride from 19:00-21:00, returning to the starting point at the end. We will offer snacks and drinks to ensure everyone is fuelled for the ride! This training is part of our Micromobi project, promoting micromobility such as bicycles and scooters as a cool, fast and green alternative to private cars. Please note that to participate, you need to bring a working bicycle, front and rear lights (white front, red rear) and a helmet if you prefer to wear one. People using other modes of wheeled micromobility, such as kickscooters or cargo bikes are welcome to join the training and ride!
