Leonor recently closed her 10-months ESC Program as a Campaigning Volunteer in Friends of the Earth Malta. Here’s how she describes her experience:
“When I first arrived in Malta, I never thought that this small, sunny island would give me so much and that it would become a second home. I’m really grateful that I chose Friends of the Earth Malta to do my ESC Program. It provided me with a safe environment to develop my skills on campaign management, youth work, and community, and to learn more about climate change, climate justice, biodiversity, micromobility, and more”.

“Being surrounded by a very talented group of people, so passionate about the environment and so committed to fight for it, made me fall in love with nature, and I have learned how to appreciate and care for it. It was truly inspiring. Plus, I met incredible people from all around the world who became lifelong friends”.

“During my time with Friends of the Earth Malta, I had the opportunity to deeply engage with the local environmental landscape, not only through research and writing, but through direct connection with the island and its people. I wrote articles on climate justice and climate change. I visited Lino’s Organic Farm in Malta, learning about sustainable agriculture firsthand and understanding the challenges faced by local farmers. I also visited universities to speak with students, sparking conversations around environmental responsibility, activism, and the future they envision“.

Goodbye dinner!
“One of the most special projects that I had the opportunity to be part of was Young Friends of the Earth Malta (YFoEM). Through YFoEM, we created a community of young like-minded people committed to reimagining a greener future. These exchanges helped me see environmental advocacy as a dialogue grounded in community experience. It’s been an unforgettable experience both professionally and personally. My ESC journey has inspired me to continue working for a greener, better future, wherever I go next”.
Goodbye Leonor, and thanks for bringing your energy to our team 🌞
