The first weekend of July was especially busy for the team as we were having our 3-day strategy meeting!
We gathered together with our staff, volunteers, youth volunteers (and furry freinds!) at Villa Psaigon to plan and outline a path to achieve our vision for next 2 years.
Since our organisation has grown drastically over the past year, each campaign team together with our communications and finance teams presented their goals, objectives and plans for 2023-2025. Learn more about the meeting via the link below.

‘Towards a Fossil Free Malta’ report launched!
As part of our climate campaign, our Climate Campaign Coordinator, Suzanne Maas has been working on a report compiling information about Malta’s energy system, its climate impacts, the proposed Melita TransGas pipeline. The report outlines a vision for a future without fossil fuels.
“New fossil fuel infrastructure is incompatible with global, EU, and national greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets”, explained FOEM Climate Campaign Coordinator Suzanne Maas, adding that “instead of risking stranded assets in the energy of the past, we should invest public money in energy savings, renewables and community energy”.
We also thank Prof. Edward Mallia, Prof. Luciano Mule’Stagno, Dr John Paul Cauchi and Dr Michael Borg for their contributions.

Plant of the Month: Neptune Seagrass (MT: Alka) Posidonia oceanica
The Neptune Seagrass is a marine plant endemic to the Mediterranean Sea. As a true flowering plant it has roots, stems and leaves and blooms underwater (occasionally producing fruits known as sea olives). This unique seagrass creates extensive underwater meadows of crucial importance for supporting biodiversity – it is home to around 1,000 different animal and plant species in the Mediterranean!
Also dubbed as ‘The lungs of the Mediterranean’ each day every square metre can generate 20 litres of oxygen and contributes greatly to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
