Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th MAY! Friends of the Earth Malta is organising its first Environmental Film Festival—Ċine'Ambjent 2019 in Floriana Ċine’Ambjent is a non-profit film festival providing local communities with a wide range of new and thought-provoking environmental films over a 2-day program. The film festival will be showcasing short films from around the globe dealing with climate change, agriculture, plastic pollution, global inequalities, resilience and relationships people cultivate with the natural landscape.

As Little Rock People we have to remain united in the fight to stop climate change. Our planet is in grave danger and only a team of dedicated super heroes can save it. Use of magic is allowed whilst fighting these climate change culprits. When becoming a member of ELLRP, one also becomes a superhero, dedicated to fighting the evil of our universe, protecting the public and all living beings on this planet, including the plants and plankton wanderers, ultimately battling to save the Earth before it is too late .

As part of the Erasmus+ Growing Together project, Friends of the Earth Malta hosted a workshop series on Crop Growing that was held for 4 consecutive Saturdays in March 2019. The series was made up of 4 sessions with the aim of teaching a total of 15 youths, aged 13 to 30, how to up-cycle pallet wood to create raised beds, how to grow plants from seeds, how to take care of their crops and maintain a garden as well as how to create a compost heap. Each session had a theoretical introduction with the rest of the session mainly taught with a hands-on approach. All workshops where 3 hours long and all four sessions were held at our Green Resource Centre in Floriana.

As part of the Erasmus+ Growing Together project, Friends of the Earth Malta together with the Mediterranean Culinary Academy will be hosting a Sustainable Cooking Workshop on Saturday, 13th July from 10:00 – 13:00. This cooking workshop can host up to 12 participants, aged 13 to 30 and you will learn how to cook with seasonal, local and homegrown ingredients. This is a vegan workshop. You will learn how to make the perfect Summer Risotto with demi sec cherry tomatoes and Bidni olive oil. YUM!

Ah Springtime in May - time to indulge in some homegrown broad beans ('ful' in Maltese) or also commonly known as fava beans. Broad beans are typically used to make pies, 'hobż biż żejt', salads or just eaten raw as a healthy snack. The season for 'ful' is quite short so try get your hands on some before they run out!
