Friends of the Earth Malta (FoEM) is looking for an Organisational Development Volunteer to join our team. This is a European Solidarity Corp (ERASMUS+/ESC) volunteering for up to 1 year (positions of 6-12 months available), ideally starting as soon as possible.
As a volunteer, you will be working closely with the FoEM team and will be line managed by the ESC Coordinator and Director. Travel and accommodation costs will be reimbursed as part of the ESC programme.
About the Role
This role focuses on supporting administrative, fundraising, and project management processes, offering insight into how an environmental NGO operates day to day. Volunteers will support internal coordination, documentation, communications, and volunteer engagement.
The role is ideal for volunteers interested in NGO management, administration, or coordination, and who enjoy creating structure and supporting others. The role will
fill gaps in administrative capacity, support funding and project applications, assist with reporting, and contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the organisation.
Duties
Due to the nature of our work, being dynamic and having a diverse set of skills is essential. Your duties will include:
- Supporting volunteer coordination, contact lists, and induction materials
- Assisting with scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes when needed
- Supporting administrative tasks related to projects, volunteers, and activities
- Managing the organisation email inbox and directing inquiries
- Taking minutes during meetings and supporting follow-up actions
- Supporting inventory checks and resource management
- Maintaining organised digital and physical archives
- Supporting logistics for workshops, training sessions, and events
- Contributing ideas to improve administrative systems
- Helping with project and funding application writing and reporting
- Assisting the team with general office and coordination tasks as required
Desirable Qualities & Skills:
- Interest in organisation, coordination, and NGO operations
- Organised and detail-oriented approach to work
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Ability to manage tasks and prioritise effectively
- Willingness to support teams behind the scenes
- Interest in environmental and social justice work
Nice to have (but not essential):
- Experience with administration or coordination
- Familiarity with project management or reporting
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive)
The ideal candidate should be/have:
- Aged 18-30 (ESC requirement)
- A citizen of one of the partner or programme countries
- Strong interest in environment and sustainability topics and self initiative
- Good organisational skills
- Affinity with the vision and values of Friends of the Earth Malta.
The European Solidarity Corps programme will provide you:
- Accommodation in a shared flat close to our offices in Floriana
- Coverage of all living costs such as electricity, water, gas, and internet
- Reimbursement of the flight and other transport to/from Malta, up to a limit
- Monthly allowance
- Private Henner insurance, if required
- In case of disabilities, funding is available for support
