Public Domain Nominations

We are now accepting nominations for new sites to be proposed during the next round of consultations. 

More than one site can be suggested and we promise to include as many sites as possible. Please do bear in mind though that we might have to limit the number of submissions due to the fact that for each submission we are required to purchase site maps and do the required research.…

For those not accustomed to the pollinator hospitality industry, a Bee n’ Bee or Bee hotel is a space where bees can find much needed shelter that may not be otherwise available due to little safe nesting space left as a result of urban sprawl. These Bee n’ Bees can be made very easily and requires minimal material - a bit of design and DIY fun can provide a home to bees, especially in times of heavy downpour in Malta, where bee nests need to be sheltered from the rain.

September

In September we welcome the pomegranate, in Maltese known as rummien. Pomegranates are a great source of vitamin C and are a powerful antioxidant. The seeds are delicious in salads, juice, sprinkled over dessert or simply on their own. An easy trick to get the seeds out of their shells is to cut the pomegranate in half, ply it open and slap on the back with a wooden spoon, as demonstrated in this video
