May 20, 2022 @ 18:00 - 20:00 CEST

Time’s up for gas! Friends of the Earth Malta launches new Climate Campaign with an event discussing the proposed Melita gas pipeline and a fossil free future for Malta.

Invitation to public launch event of “A gas pipeline to Malta?” video and discussion on Friday 20 May at the Friends of the Earth Malta Green Resource Centre in Floriana.

The proposed gas pipeline, as well as alternative energy solutions for Malta, will be discussed at the launch event in a panel discussion which will focus on key questions such as the presentation of gas as a ‘transition fuel’ in the energy transition, the impact of the climate crisis, the role of hydrogen in the future of energy, rising electricity prices for consumers and the potential and need for renewable energy sources.

The short informative video, aimed at raising awareness among the general public about this key turning point that will determine Malta’s energy future, will be launched at the Friends of the Earth Malta Green Resource Centre in Floriana on Friday 20 May from 18:00-20:00. Panellists in the discussion will include Prof. Luciano Mule-Stagno (Institute for Sustainable Energy, UM), Dr Marie Briguglio (Economist) and Matthew Caruana Galizia (Daphne Foundation).
