Eat for Impact: take a bite out of Climate Change!

February 1 - February 28

For the month of February, Friends of the Earth Malta has partnered with Planted Society, an international environmental NGO based in the US, for Planted’s initiative Eat for Impact!

Eat for Impact is a global programme developed by Planted Society that empowers cities and communities to adopt plant-based solutions that help reverse environmental harm, conserve natural resources, and promote healthier lifestyles. Malta’s edition will spotlight local restaurants offering specially developed plant-based dishes all month long.

🌍 What’s It All About

Across February 2026, participating restaurants across Malta will feature two or more new plant-based specials on their menus designed to be climate-friendly, tasty meals that make a real impact. At the end of the month, FoEM will publish a comprehensive climate impact report showing the total greenhouse gas savings and ecosystem benefits generated by the initiative.

This initiative supports FoEM’s mission to reduce Malta’s environmental footprint through accessible, practical dietary choices, demonstrating how everyday meals can contribute to climate action.

🍽️ Participating Restaurants

These seven local restaurants are crafting climate-forward, plant-based specials exclusively for the Eat for Impact month:

  • Palazzo Castelletti, Rabat

  • The Harbour Club, Valletta

  • Ġenna ta’ L-Art, Dingli

  • Heirloom Streatery, Qormi

  • Vincent Eco Estate, Mġarr

  • Pink Garlic Malta, San Pawl il-Baħar

  • The Flying Saucer, Birkirkara

Each restaurant will continue serving their special dishes throughout February, making it easy for diners to choose climate-friendly meals all month.

💚 Why It Matters

Food production, especially animal agriculture, is a leading contributor to greenhouse gas emissions and natural resource depletion. Choosing plant-based meals helps reduce environmental impact while showcasing the creativity of Malta’s vibrant culinary scene.
